This is my entry for the mini DW V. I wish CG society all the best! This is a little story I wrote to help me find design solutions, and come up with what I hope will be interesting characters.

Far and wide across the galaxy, from the old and wise to the young and fair, all have sung the tales of the prowess, might, strength, and good fortune of General Pozzo di Borgo VI.
But tragically, as often happens with powerful men, the high council turned their purpose to the Shadow, and allied with the ever deceitful Corrupted.
General Borgo was betrayed, and his death sealed, when he was sent with his brave army of 50 thousand into an ambush. In his date with death the general and his men fought valiantly for many days, until he alone was left standing. Then, when all was lost and his demise was certain, a slicing light came from the shadows, vanquishing all foes in its path. Chi of the Death Reaper Society came to make a last stand by the general she loved.
I have always had a hard time capturing natural looking motion, and not something that looks like a pose, so this was a challenge, I hope it’s believable enough.
As far as the story I was imagining something like the last guy to make it to the finish line gets shot at by a firing squad at the end of the race, so all the runners are missing limbs...a little dramatic 
All the best to the wonderful people out there
The guys at “War Squared” give me a lot of creative freedom, so it’s always a lot of fun working with them on this card game. With this piece I was trying to capture the majestic nature of this mighty enchanter, the contrast between his destructive power and inner calm. Making these images read well in a small size is also a challenge, so I’m always trying to perfect my use of value contrast.
Hope you like it.

This is another card for the “War Squared” steam punk card game. On this card I wanted to try and play more with the lighting and color to draw the viewer’s eye. The dimensions I have to work with make it a little difficult to ad other story telling elements, and this images get printed real small, so those are some of the challenges when working with these kind of cards.
Anyhow, hope to hear your thoughts, and all the best to you wonderful people!
Here is the client description:
Chiriqui is a word in the indigenous language, which in English means "valley of the moon". We want fantasy art that conveys a feeling of intrigue, beauty, lushness, and a desire to come and see it.
A moon, not necessarily full, just rising above jungle covered mountains, shining down on a lush tropical valley rain forest. Elements: Mountains, jungles, clouds, waterfalls, exotic birds, river etc. Still daylight to get vivid colors.
